How long have you been in business?
My grandmother made these cookies in a wood stove and sold them...so really we have been in business for over 100 years. However we have been in the present building since the early 1960's.
What is your primary product or service?
We hand roll, hand cut, hand-pack Moravian cookies. Every cookie is made by hand using only rolling pins and cutting cutters. We make six different flavors; Ginger, Sugar, Chocolate, Lemon, Butterscotch and Black Walnut.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I grew up in this business. My grandmother made these cookies in a wood stove and sold them. My Mother and Father grew the business and I always (had to) help as a child.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I think we are probably the largest Hand-made cookie operation in the world. We make over 100,000 lbs of cookies and each cookie is cut out with a cookie cutter. There are over 100 cookies in a pound...so that means over 1 million cookies cut out, one by one, using only a cookie cutter. There are "other" bakers of Moravian Cookies, but we are the only ones that still make them by hand.
